Literature to be purchased:
- Shakespeare, Othello. Ed. E.A.J. Honigmann. Arden Shakespeare, 1997. ISBN 978-0174434641, or Othello, Revised Edition. Eds. A. Thompson & E.A.J. Honigmann. Arden Shakespeare, 2016. ISBN 978-1472571762. The difference between these editions consists only in the introduction, the very useful text of the annex are the same. For classwork, the annotations (which should not have been changed either) and line countings are important. Another good edition is the New Cambridge Shakespeare, Othello, ISBN 978-1107569713.
- Shakespeare, Sonnets [The New Cambridge Shakespeare]. Ed. G. Blakemore Evans. Cambridge UP, 2006. ISBN 978-0521678377. This edition is advisable for its remarkable annotations of each sonnet.
Your teacher will be quoting from/referring to the above editions only.
Standard reference to Shakespeare's works and the context:
- Schabert, Ina. Shakespeare Handbuch. Kröner, 2009. (Univ.-Bibl.)
