The seminar lays the groundwork for what in German is called Didaktik (= what is taught?) and Methodik (= how is something taught?). The following areas are covered: language acquisition vs language learning, teaching methods, individual learner differences, classroom learning, the three building blocks of the English language (pronunciation, grammar, and lexis), the four cardinal skills (speaking, listening, writing, and reading), the literature classroom, and language testing.
