In this seminar, we will be looking at the different ways contemporary films present current issues and attitudes by constructing possible futures. Topics will include capitalism, the environment, AI, and gender roles. The grade will be based on an in-class essay written at the end of term.
Readings will be provided on OLAT. All students must acquire the following films, either as DVDs or through streaming services. I recommend watching them at least once before the course starts.
