There will be ONE introduction session for BOTH groups on the 08.11.2024. It is essential that you can attend this session if you wish to take this seminar.
Group 1 will then have their block session on the 22.11.2024 to the 24.11.2024.
Group 2 will have their block session on the 17.01.2025 to the 19.01.2025.
Seminar Structure:
This seminar has two components:
- Journal Club
- Read research articles on discrimination and health which we will discuss in the seminar
- Submit reaction papers
- Presentations
- Each small group carries out research on a topic relating to discrimination and health and gives a presentation
Learning Objectives
- Develop in-depth knowledge of specific aspects of discrimination and health while practicing collaboration and presentation skills
- Examine and understand how various forms of discrimination contribute to disparities in health outcomes
- Demonstrate independent learning by conducting your own research on a topic
- Develop ability to critically evaluate research articles focusing on discrimination and health
- Discuss how the research reviewed can have practical implications for reducing health disparities
- Further develop written and verbal communication skills in English
